-None . -In the US Hepatitis B may be given shortly after birth |
| Nutrition | -Exclusive breastfeeding. More information on the benefits of breastfeeding can be found in our Learning not Waiting Menu at our Medical Home. Help at this stage is available through our monthly breastfeeding meetings at the La Joya Paediatrics Resource Center on the 1st Wednesday of every month - 12md to 2pm. -If absolutely unable to breastfeed, you may use an infant formula with iron as the iron is necessary for brain development in children. |
| Safety | -Put baby to sleep on his/her back as this has been found to be the safest position in reducing the incidence of SIDS. -No pillows or blankets are needed at this stage and can be dangerous if placed in the crib with the baby. |
| Play | -You are your child's most wonderful toy at this stage. Through your interaction with your child, they will learn that the world around them is a safe and loving one. -Talk and read to them, stroke and cuddle them, dance and sing to them. |
| Common Questions and concerns | COLIC - Unexplained crying for 1-2 hours. The child is usually well in between. -Gentle soothing activities such as rocking or a car/stroller ride usually help. -Gripe water has no proven benefit. -It usually disappears at 2-3 months. |
